Boladale Mapayi, the principal investigator, was a participant at the Media Skills Training for CARTA Fellows organised by CARTA in collaboration with Script Training (part of SciDev.Net).
This was a five-day training workshop that took place virtually with the use of webinars and interactive sessions on zoom.
The training took place between the 15th and 19th of August 2022 and had 5 modules which looked into: Science in the media – maximising the available opportunities, Practical ways to simplify scientific information without losing its meaning, making science interesting to journalists and their audiences, pitching your research findings to an editor and structuring a media article about your research.
We learnt about interesting new ways to share our research with the public and we hope to practice those skills with our current research on sexual harassment in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
